The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has commenced its oversight functions for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure compliance with 2026 budgetary allocations.
The House has commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for investing in Information Communication and Technology ( ICT) considering its importance to human and societal development.
The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon Abel Yakubu Bala gave the commendation when the management of Nasarawa State Information and Digital Economy Agency ( NASITDEA) appeared before the committee on their first Quarter 2026 budget performance today in Lafia
Hon Abel, represented by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba , the Vice Chairman of the Committee said that the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon.Dr Danladi Jatau, has directed all the House Standing Committees to embark on oversight functions to MDAs in order to ensure that the right things were done.
Hon Abel said that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has empowered them to assess the budget performance of MDA, hence the need for the exercise.
“Mr Speaker, Rt.Hon. Dr Danladi Jatau, has directed us to embark on an oversight function to MDAs.
“As the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to oversight your agency in order to assess your 2026 budget performance.
” You are to tell us the percentage of your budget performance from January to date,” he said.
Hon Abel urged the agency to improve on their revenue generation for the overall development of the state.
He also urged the agency to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enable them succeed.
The Committee Chairman further assured them of the committee’s support to succeed
Earlier, Mr Haruna Sani Sani, the Director General, Nasarawa State Information and Digital Economy Agency appreciated Gov Abdullahi Sule and the committee for supporting their activities to succeed.
He disclosed that the agency would train the youths of the state in cybersecurity in order to tackle cyber crime.
He also assured the committee of his commitment to ensure the development of the agency.
The DG, however, appealed for more releases, request the committee promised to intervene for the development of the agency.
